We’ve recently launched our 2010-2011 Box Tops for Education fundraising campaign.

For 12 years, Box Tops for Education has helped America’s schools raise over $250 million to buy the things they need. The Box Tops for Education program offers three easy ways to make a difference for our school through everyday activities: buying groceries, shopping online and purchasing books. School budgets are tighter than ever, and The Academy is asking for the support of families and community members such as yourself.

Sign up to support our school at the Box Tops website (www.btfe.com). You’ll get updates on our school’s Box Tops earnings, money-saving coupons, family-pleasing recipes, chances to win Bonus Box Tops for our school and the latest Box Tops News!

ACADEMIC PROGRAMS
The Academy of St. Francis of Assisi follows the guidelines set forth by the Paterson Diocese in accordance with NJCCCS. We are proud to be accredited by ADVANCED ED. Our curriculum goal is to develop the spiritual, academic, social, moral and physical well-being of each student. We strive to meet the needs of the individual student in a nurturing environment rooted in the Gospel message.

Our experienced, certified staff strive to follow the example of the Master Teacher, Jesus Christ. Students are immersed in a rich, challenging academic atmosphere, in which they study Religion, Mathematics, Social Studies, Science and Language Arts.

As enrichment to our curriculum, the Academy of St. Francis of Assisi offers:

CLUBS AND STUDENT ACTIVITIES

It is our belief that a strong sense of community is a distinguishing feature of the Academy of St. Francis of Assisi. Building on this notion, we strive to develop the religious, academic and social aspects of the student. The students of the Academy of St. Francis of Assisi are encouraged to participate in the Student Council and become Franciscan Buddies, pairing older students with younger students. The school also offers a wide variety of other activities to our students.

Our students in grade three through eight are encouraged to join our after-school Clubs, moderated by our faculty. The students can choose from Cooking, Dance, Drama, Arts and Crafts, Yearbook and Sports to name a few. Students in grade six through eight are invited to join and compete in the Junior Regional Forensics League that prepares students for public speaking.

Our students compete in many academic challenges including the Knights of Columbus Spelling Bee, the Elks Club Essay Contest, the John Brady Academic Challenge and the Mary Help of Christians Essay Competition.

Christian Community Service is a special component of faith community building here at the Academy. Our students are involved in Special Olympics, St. Jude’s Research Hospital Math-a-Thon and Animal Rescue. Students in grades six through eight are invited to join the National Junior Honor Society. Membership is based not only on academics, but just as importantly, community service.

Students are selected to be Franciscan Students of the Month. This is a non-academic recognition based on students exemplifying the example of St. Francis of Assisi.

The Academy now boasts a Varsity and Junior Varsity Volleyball team competing in league with other local Catholic elelmentary schools.  GO...ASFA !!
